My little picture of Kagome and Kikyo as depicted in my friend's work, "Jewel of the Seven Seas" (read here!) [link]

*warning, rant*

Sooooo... Reason I haven't been on in a while is mostly to hide in shame from the fact that I didn't get this piece done for a long time. I'm submitting it now because even though it still needs work seriously, f*** it. I wanted to make this an epic piece, and I'm extremely proud of the lighting, the hair, the faces, the hands, the couch, Kagome's silky corset thing and Kikyo's pink ribbon things. I LOVE how it all came together. But then my talent decided to crap out when I got to the bottom half of their dresses, and... I dunno. Don't you hate it when something's wrong, you know WHAT's wrong, you know what to fix, but you just don't know how to fix it? For me, it's the dresses. Kikyo's little poofies at the end of her dress, and Kagome's bottom half of her dress. I tried fixing it over and over again before I just gave up. One day if I figure it out, I'll go back and change it. It's a shame because my mom wanted to print this on a canvas because she liked it so much, but I'm going to refuse until I perfect it.

If any of YOU guys out there know what to do about this, your great help is appreciated. Thank you :>

So beautiful and the detail on the fabric is ah-mazing! (May I please post this picture on my sesskag tumblr, I will give all required credit; if not then your art is gorgeous nonetheless.) :D

Very lovely work indeed. What sticks out to me on the areas that you pointed out (which, I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed out) is that there is no definition to the edging. Add some depth and darken the lower left corner of Kagome's dress, hinting slightly at her knee. Use the darker colors that you used on her lap. Then on Kikyo, really all that her dress needs is a bit more sharpness to the underside of the poofies, so a slight dark outline, perhaps only hinted at in some spots.
Hopefully that helps. It would be a shame not to print such lovely work.

Thanks a lot for the lovely comment ^^ As for the advice, it sounds very similar to what a previous commenter noticed too, and probably means you're both right hehe. Looking at my painting now, it makes a lot of sense and I think it will help a lot, so I will very much take what both of you said into consideration and fix this as soon as I can (not at the moment though, 'cause I need a break from this piece x3) Thank you again :)

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you think so :> As for the picture of Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru that my friend mentioned, I'll let you both in on some details hehe. Still in the early stages, but I've done most of the research for their costumes and they're both sketched out nice and rough. My only concern is the style- since they belong to a more fantastic species, I don't know if I should keep the realistic style or try something new. We shall see!
